JAMES ALLEN SIPES, 73, of Jacksonville, went to be with the Heavenly Father on June 18, 2011. He was born in Rison, Ark. on April 30, 1938 to the late Lincoln and Helen Roberts Sipes. He is preceded in death by a sister, Jean Davenport; brother, Richard Sipes and half brother, Bob Tucker. Mr. Sipes was a member of the Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church. He was reared and educated in Rison and Pine Bluff but recently relocated to Jacksonville from White Hall. He had a career in law enforcement with the Pine Bluff and Stuttgart Police Departments and retired from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette after 40 years. Mr. Sipes is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nora Ann Sipes of the home; his son Gary L. Sipes and wife DeJuana; three sisters, Jane Jacobs, Erma Lee McLarrin and Margie Rushing; two brothers, L.C. and Larry Sipes; three grandchildren, Jason A., Brian C. and Daniel L. Sipes; five great-grandchildren, Gavin, Alexis, Carson, Brooke Sipes and Kourtlyn Mardis. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel with pastor David Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
