Vernon Troy Fortson

Vernon Troy Fortson, 84, of Cabot died Monday, March 28, 2011. He was born February 27, 1927 to the late Hoyle and Virgie Fortson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Danny Fortson. Mr. Fortson was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Ceco Door Company for 27 years. He liked to fish, hunt and loved his dog Skipper. Mr. Fortson was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise Fortson; one sister, Artie Fay and husband Faber Vann of Cabot; a sister-in-law, Lilly Mae Mitchell; one stepson, Lloyd Tarkington (Marie) of Pennsylvania; one step granddaughter, Misty Tarkington of Florida; four step grandsons, Wesley, Philip and Bryan Tarkington of Pennsylvania and Dallas Duff; one granddaughter, Miranda Fortson; one step great granddaughter, Anastasia Tarkington-Wilson; and four nephews, Mike, Ronney, and David Vann of Cabot and Tim Vann of Florida. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Fortner officiating. Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Cabot Manor and Arkansas Hospice for the special care given to Mr. Fortson.
