Rose E. Walker

Rose E. Maxwell Walker, age 94, of Crossett, went to be with the Lord and other departed loved ones on Monday, May 2, 2011. She was born on January 19, 1917 to her parents, Edgar Taylor and Eula Mae Harris Maxwell. Mrs. Walker was a retail sales clerk working in several stores in Crossett including Sterlings, Beall's and Wests. She was a member of South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school for several years. Rose had many hobbies such as crocheting, liquid embroidery, and flower arranging. She enjoyed reading, visiting and being with her family especially her grandchildren. Rose appreciated the staff at Pinewood Health and Rehab who took care of her the last several years and are still talking about her escapades when she was more active. Those preceding her in death are her husband, James T. Walker; her parents, three brothers, Harris, Travis and Steve Maxwell, two sisters, Maxine Sturdivant and Melba Thomas; two granddaughters, Scarlett Roseanne Walker and Lynnette Payne Porter. Survivors include two sons, William Taylor Walker (Janet) of Brandon, FL and Julian Walker of Crossett; three daughters, Rose Carolyn Duke of Hope, Ark., Janie Moore (Al) of LaGuna Park, Texas, Sharon Payne (Eddie) of Crossett, Ark.; her brother, Alan Maxwell (Glenda) of Crossett; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. The family will be receiving guests to celebrate this lady that lived a long, full, happy life Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her nephews-Dennis, Glen, Keith and David Maxwell; Rank, Rhett and Brett Thomas; Mike, John and Robert Sturdivant.
