Albert Ray Davis

Mr. Albert "Ray" Davis, 66, of Bradford departed this life on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Searcy. He was born June 16, 1944, at Newport, the son of Sarah DeFries and the late Eugene Davis. Mr. Davis was a United States Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He received a Purple Heart for his exemplary military action, as well as the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, and Expert Rifleman. He was a retired truck driver and boiler maker. Mr. Davis loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved his family and will be greatly missed. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one sister, Cathy Davis; and one brother, Billy Joe Davis. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Davis; four sons, Larry Davis, Michael Davis and wife Angela, Dustin Davis, and John Turner and wife Nanette, all of Bradford; mother, Sarah DeFries; one brother, Howard Davis of North Little Rock; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday, 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Llano Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Coffeyville Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Sean Jefford, Ricky Burress, Dallas Ray Goad, Skipper Snook, Daniel Sullivan, and Kenny Goad.
