Lee Tilton Bailey

Lee Tilton Bailey, a resident of Hope, Arkansas, unexpectedly died at Medical Park Hospital on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Born in Nevada County, Arkansas, on August 10, 1950, to Daisy and Tilton Bailey, he became a member of Harrison Chapel Baptist Church and later attended Oak Grove High School from which he graduated in 1967. Upon graduation he attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, formerly the Agricultural, Mechanical and Normal College, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in mathematics in 1971. After graduation he became a mathematics teacher in the Washington, Arkansas School District and later the Hope, Arkansas School District, and he also taught at Saratoga and Liberty Eylau. He was preceded in death by his mother in 2002, his father in 2005, and two siblings, his sister Daisy Helen, who died at five, and his brother Jerry Allen, who died in infancy. He also suffered the loss of his stepson Michael Witherspoon in 2007. Lee is survived by his loving, supportive, and devoted wife, Maude, whom he married in 1975. To that union was born two children, Jennifer Ann and Lee Tilton Bailey Jr., both of Fort Worth, Texas. Left to mourn his loss are also five grandchildren; Brianna, Javarus, Jalen, Bryan and Alaysia; two stepchildren, Theresa Fields and Mary Ogden (Todd); 11 step-grandchildren; his three sisters; Darlene, Pearl and Ola; his aunt and uncle, Sallie and Clyde Toney; six sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of cousins, other family members, and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14th, at 2:30 p.m. at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church in Rosston, Arkansas, with Rev. Victor Morgan and Rev. A.T. Jordan officiating.
