Arlie Donald "Pete" Shirkey

Arlie Donald "Pete" Shirkey, 91, of Stuttgart passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center - Stuttgart. He was born Jan. 30, 1921 at Belcher in Prairie County to Mary Margaret Murphy and Lee Orin Shirkey. Pete was a retired rice grader for the United States Department of Agriculture known now as Federal Grain Inspection Service and was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester, Harold, Orin, Lee O. Shirkey; four sisters, Mable Feilke, June Walters, Gladys and Arlene Shirkey. Survivors are one sister, Lorene Shirkey Shelton of Casscoe and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church officiated by Clefton Vaughan with visitation beginning one hour before the service time.
