Joseph Landa Jr.

JOSEPH LANDA JR., age 90, of Jacksonville, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 in Birmingham, Ala. He was born Aug. 14, 1922 in Edwardsville, Ill. to Joseph and Otilie Slavik Landa Sr. Mr. Landa was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served during WWII as a fighter pilot. He retired from the US Postal service. Mr. Landa was a member of 2nd Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Mr. Landa was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gregg Landa on Dec. 5, 2007; two sons, Michael and Gregg Landa and an infant son, James Thomas Landa; sister, Blanche Niemann. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Rob and Terri Landa of Birmingham; two grandchildren Robin and Erin Landa; sister, Betty Evans. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
