Charles Scott Breshears

CHARLES SCOTT BRESHEARS, 69, of Sherwood, Ark. passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at his home. He was born in Little Rock, Ark. to the late Doyle A. Breshears and Juanita Widener Breshears. He grew up in the Oak Grove area of North Little Rock and graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood. He received a bachelor's degree from Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas-Conway), where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. Charlie joined the Air National Guard upon graduation, attending basic training in San Antonio and technical school in Wichita Falls, Texas. He served on active duty with the Air National Guard during the Pueblo Crisis in 1968. Charlie went to work with Arkla Gas Company in 1967 and retired from there in 2004. He was an avid genealogist, loved to work Sudoku puzzles, enjoyed "puttering" around the house and yard, and fishing. He is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Sarah Grigsby Breshears; a son, J. Scott Breshears (Katie) of Fayetteville; and a daughter, Rebecca Tagerson (Aaron) of Humble, Texas. The lights of Pop-Pop's life were his three granddaughters, Rhylan A. Breshears, and twins, Rachel C. and Kaitlyn E. Tagerson, all born in 2011 just five months apart. Charlie's last week was spent in Texas holding, playing with, and reading to the twins; he was also looking forward to Rhylan's upcoming visit. He is also survived by sister-in-law Roslyn Sisco (George) of Valparaiso, Ind.; brother-in-law John Grigsby of Fort Worth, Texas; a special niece, Georganne Sisco of Little Rock; nieces Rebecca Grigsby of Hawaii, and Mary Susan Formby of Houston, Texas; nephew, Rhydon Grigsby of Colorado; several cousins; and many good friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation, 2 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, Ark., 72205; or the American Heart Association–Little Rock, 909 W. 2nd Street, Little Rock, Ark., 72203. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. (501-791-7400). A memorial service will take place Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A private burial service will be held at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
