Virgil L. DeLaney

Mr. Virgil L. DeLaney of Jacksonville passed quietly away Dec. 29, 2011. He was born Jan. 15, 1920 in Fort Scott, Kan. He was a retired Army officer and served in the Asiatic Pacific, Mediterranean, and European theaters of operations during the Second World War and earned several awards, decorations and commendations. Upon retirement from the military, he entered the fiberglass boat business and was founder and president of Caravelle Boat Manufacturing Company located in Jacksonville and Conway. Mr. DeLaney is survived by daughters Gayle Neunherz (husband Edward) and Deborah O'Bar of Spokane, Wash.; grandson Gregory (wife Darlene) and great-granddaughter Alexis and great-grandson Kaden Neunherz of Pullman, Wash.; grandsons William and Samuel O'Bar of Memphis, Tenn.; grandsons Cole DeLaney, Brett DeLaney and Grant DeLaney of Jacksonville; sister Jaunita Denton and husband Bob of Topeka, Kan.; sister Launita Helms of Concord, Calif.; and several nephews and nieces in Arkansas, Kansas, California and Georgia. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 in the chapel of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home 501-982-2136. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville; 1208 W.
