Giles G. Gillespie

Giles G. Gillespie, 83, of Magnolia, Arkansas died Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the home in Sarepta, Louisiana. He was born September 6, 1928 in Cotton Valley, Louisiana to the late Larkin and Lucy Pearl (Gilbert) Gillespie. Giles served in the United States Army Air Corp and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was the co-owner of Gillespie Well Service and served on the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission for many years and through these years he had met numerous acquaintances whom became lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ann Miller Gillespie; brothers, Joel Gillespie, L.E. "Pee Wee" Gillespie, and John Gillespie; and sister, Vera Hassion. Survivors are his daughters, Mary Ann Freeland of Dallas, Texas, Pam Allen and Jody Childress of Sarepta, Louisiana; brothers, Tillman Gillespie and wife Anna of Houma, Louisiana, Clifton Gillespie of Bossier City, Louisiana; special niece, Alice Liegerot and husband Rick; granddaughters, Lauren Thomas and husband Will of Atlanta, Georgia, Holly Hollingsworth and husband Murf of Haughton, Louisiana, Kelley Freeland of Little Rock, Arkansas, Shelly Stuart and husband Corey of Haughton, Louisiana; grandson, Dr. Michael Freeland and wife Debbie of Orland, Florida; great-grandsons, Hayden Jenkins, Clint Hollingsworth, Wes Thomas; great granddaughters, Anna Hollingsworth, Ali Stuart, Lily Thomas, Marley Freeland; and many close "family" friends. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
