Margaret Virginia Erickson

Margaret Virginia (Hubert) Erickson, 87, of Newport died June 24, 2012, in Newport, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Erickson; infant daughter, Cathey Erickson; and her parents, O.I. (Job) and Johanna Hubert. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Susan and Rusty and Darla; daughter Rebecca Price; grandson, Matthew, and his wife, LeAnne; granddaughters, Lauren, Katharine Kline and her husband Bryan, Jessica Turner, and twins Kimberlee and Kassidee Kutt. Virginia was born in Newport and graduated from Newport High School in 1942. Following graduation, she worked as a telephone operator at the Newport Army Air Base where she met her future husband, Ray. They were married at First Baptist Church of Newport on June 3, 1944. After the war ended, she continued working for Southwestern Bell (AT&T) until her retirement, only taking a short period off to raise her children. In 1977, the Ericksons moved to Gravel Ridge, where Virginia lived until recently. With a true servant's heart, Virginia spent many years as an active member at First Baptist Newport and First Baptist Gravel Ridge. She dedicated her life to her Lord, her family, and to growing the most gorgeous yard and garden possible. Graveside service will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Newport, 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 28. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Gravel Ridge, 3:30 p.m., Thursday, June 28. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to First Baptist Church of Gravel Ridge-Library Fund, 14322 Arkansas 107, Jacksonville, Ark. 72076.
