Ray Washington Carter of Beebe, Arkansas, (formerly of Brinkley, Arkansas) went home to be with his Lord on June 23, 2012 surrounded in prayer and song by his family. He was born March 29, 1927 and was an avid singer, outdoorsmen and Monroe County volunteer firefighter. He was a devoted member of Brinkley First Assembly of God and in recent years attended Beebe Open Arms Assembly and the Beebe Senior Center. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Katherine Sartin Carter; his sons Alvin (Debbie) of Beebe; James (Ami) of Searcy; his daughters, Karen (Glen) Dailey of Ona, West Virginia; Ruth (Jesse) Martin of Sarepta, Louisiana; Bonnie (Greg) Temke of Munford, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Gladys (Bob) Burrow of Brinkley. His visitation and service will be held at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, Arkansas. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26th from 6-8 p.m. and service Wednesday, June 27th, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock.
