Geneva Elizabeth Roper Haley

Geneva Elizabeth Roper Haley, 83, of Little Rock, passed away May 3, 2012. She was born in Scranton, Arkansas to Edward and Bertha Varnell Roper. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Felicia Haley Lang and husband, Nicholas P. Lang, M.D.; two grandchildren, Patrick Morgan Lang, M.D. and his fiance', Kyla Shelton, M.D. and Courtney Elizabeth Lang, all of Little Rock. She is also survived by one brother, Pastor Lloyd Ray Roper and wife, Patsy of Texarkana; three sisters, Virginia Anderson of Little Rock, Patricia Woods and husband, James of Alexander and Donna Nalley of Cabot; and two sisters-in-law, Bernice Ashcraft of Evanston, Illinois and Mae Belle James of Richardson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, G.W. Haley and one sister, Bobby Huffington. Since joining Oak Forest United Methodist Church in 1982, she served willingly on many committees and frequently assumed a leadership function for many parts of the church. Some of her favorite areas were the annual Christmas Bazaar and spending time with her quilting friends. Special thanks go to the physicians and nurses of UAMS, especially the staff of the SICU, MICU and Step-Down Unit. We are very grateful for the caring, kindness and support that Ms. Haley received from the nursing staff during the last weeks of her life. Services will be Saturday, May 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, 2415 Fair Park Blvd., officiated by Rev. Russ Breshears, followed by interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Visitation will be this evening, Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct.
