Roy Hughes

Roy G. Hughes, 78, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, May 16, 2012. Born May 13, 1934 at England, he was a son of the late George C. Hughes and Maulcie White Hughes. Mr. Hughes retired from the United States Navy in 1974 as Chief Petty Officer. He again retired in 2001 from the Pine Bluff Arsenal as arsenal security with the Department of Defense.Mr. Hughes was a an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, he was also member of Pine Crest Baptist Church and of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maurine McBryde Hughes; daughters, Jan Moore, Vickie Byrd, and Cheryl Barnes; a brother, Garland Hughes and wife Brenda; granddaughters, Rachel Abbott and Ashley Barnes; great-granddaughter, Selah Abbott; niece, Elizabeth Adamson; and many other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, 2 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brother Bill Hilburn officiating. Visitation will start at one o'clock until service time.
