Ray W. Johnson, 78, of Pine Bluff died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center. He was born March 3, 1934 in Stephens, Ark. He was a very active and loyal member of St. Andrew A.M.E. Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he served in many capacities. He retired from the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 2000 after 37 1/2 years of service. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Fred B. and Ella Lee McKamie Johnson; brothers – Isaiah Johnson, Samuel Johnson, John H. Johnson and Willie Johnson Sr.; and sisters – Vera Johnson Massie, Vivian Johnson Blake and Laura Lean Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Miranda Caldwell Johnson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; three sons, Dr. Clifton (Elizabeth) Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mark (Nicole) Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee, and Dr. Laron (Rima) Johnson of Columbia, Maryland; one daughter, Lisa Johnson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; two step-daughters, Linda (Royce) Jefferson-Dixon and Candiss Caldwell both of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one brother, Thomas Johnson of Chicago, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 5:30-7 p.m. at St. Andrew A.M.E. Church, 701 Franklin Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:30 PM at St. John A.M.E. Church, 1117 West Pullen Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas with the Rev. Marcia Burns, eulogist. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Section of Graceland Cemetery by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:45 p.m. until time of service.
