Dorothy Denhardt Boening

Dorothy Denhardt Boening, 100, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012, at Crestpark Nursing Home in Stuttgart. Dorothy was born April 18, 1912, in Stuttgart to the late Otto and Rosa Merten Denhardt. In 1929, Dorothy married Herman Boening. They were married 71 years until his death in 2000. Dorothy became a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church through the Rite of Adult Confirmation on March 29, 1931. Dorothy was the mother of one daughter, Catherine Boening Bednar of Stuttgart. Other surviving members of her family include two grandchildren, Jennifer Bednar Overton (Tommy) of Conway and Jay Bednar of Stuttgart; and two great-granddaughters, Catie and Caroline Overton. Dorothy lived her entire life in Stuttgart. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was very active in ELCW Circle I, Altar Guild, and served as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent and secretary for 64 years. Dorothy was known for her hand embroidery work of sheets and pillowcases. She also enjoyed making aprons for family and friends. Funeral services, officiated the Rev. Glenn Larsen, are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 209 S. Grand Ave., Stuttgart, Ark. 72160.
