Bettie M. Bluemle: On August 11, 2013, Miss Bettie, as she was known to numbers of nursery school and kindergarten students and parents, passed away in Mandeville, Louisiana. Miss Bettie was 91 years old. She was born on July 10, 1922, in Poteau, Oklahoma. She was the first child of W. E. and Jessie Nance. Miss Bettie spent a big part of her life on children. Along with her friend Selma Ratley, she operated The Toggery clothing store for children and taught at Miss Selma's School for a number of years She was always happy when she was with children or talking about children. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husbands George A. Wooten, and Ted Bluemle. She is survived by her son Alan Wooten and his wife Carol Sue, her daughter Nancy Rhodes and her husband Mike, and her brother Gene and his wife Gertrude, her grandson Todd Wooten and his wife Stacy and a great-grandson Gibson. She is also survived by her loyal, faithful, friend and caregiver Polly Taff. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Emeritus at Mandeville, Lakeshore Hospice and Gifted Nurses for providing dignity, comfort and outstanding care. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Forest Hills Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. 501-661-9111.
