Naomi Phillips

Naomi Ilene Black Phillips passed way in Sheridan on the night of August 20, 2013. She had just turned 92 years of age on August 16, 2013. Naomi was born in Bay on August 16, 1921. She lived most of her life in Bay, Trumann, Grubbs and Jonesboro. She was married to Lewis Phillips of Grubbs and lived there most of her life where she was a lifelong member of the Grubbs First Baptist Church. She obtained a Master's Degree in Education and Library Science from Arkansas State University and taught in the Grubbs, Harrisburg and Sheridan Schools. Naomi will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a brother, Preston Black and wife Joy of Sheridan; one niece, Christina Gladney and husband Patrick; three nephews, Jamey Black and Melinda, Kevin Wood and Lisa, and Kraig Wood and Shawna along with seven grandnieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her loyal and loving friend of many years, Dot Kinard. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2013 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with graveside services following at the City Cemetery, next to Saint Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro.
