Pauline Nichols Umberger

Pauline Nichols Umberger, age 92, of Atkins, Ark., passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013. She was born June 18, 1921, in Morrilton, Ark., a daughter of Paul Montgomery and Corine Lemley Montgomery. She was married to Ray Nichols for 49 years unto his death in 1991 and later to Sam Umberger until his death in 2000. She was a homemaker and member of Atkins United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sons, Paul Dee (Lisa) Nichols of Blackwell, Jerry (Betty) Nichols of Mabelvale, James Nichols of Blackwell, and Tim (Vicky) Nichols of London; brothers, John Montgomery of Russellville, Jim Montgomery of Oakland, California; sisters, Florence Risinger of Clarksville, and Beverly Paladino of Morrilton; thirteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Van Echaute Fields; brothers, Jeff, Bill, and Ed Montgomery; and a sister, Dorothy Nichols. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at the Harris Chapel with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home.
