David Alan Schonert

DAVID ALAN SCHONERT, born in Little Rock, Ark. on Aug. 3, 1953, passed away from cardiac arrest March 13, 2014. David graduated from high school in El Dorado, Ark.; lived in Fayetteville a number of years where he worked at Northwest Arkansas Steel Co. He moved to Little Rock in 1985 to complete his Masters in Mathematics. He taught at UALR in the Department of Math & Statistics for 20 years. David had numerous interests, hobbies and talents. His lifelong study and love of art is evident in his painting, sculpting, woodworking, music and gardening. He enjoyed traveling and exploring new places with Lynna. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Schonert. David is survived by his wife, Lynna; his mother, Betty Prince Schonert of Little Rock; sister, Carole Moore, husband, Philip; and nephew, Phil, all of Fayetteville; niece, Rebecca of Chicago; brother, Terry, wife, Katie; niece, Kathleen; and nephew, John, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many other family and friends. We appreciate Dr. David Rutlen and his team of doctors, nurses and staff at HICU, UAMS for their kindness and tremendous care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) to benefit the Mathematics and Statistics Department. Remembrances may be sent to the UALR Office of Development, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock, Ark. 72204, with a notation indicating your intent to honor David's memory.
