Mildred Cockrell King

Mildred Cockrell Jackson King, 93 of Monticello, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at UAMS Medical Center. She had resided for several years at Robinson Health and Rehabilitation Center in North Little Rock. She was born in the Greenhill Community, on October 17, 1921 to the late Earl and Vera Ray Cockrell. She lived most of her life in the Monticello area. She was retired from Burlington Industries, and was an active member of Wood Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was active in church and community activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, O.D. King, brothers, James Cockrell, Elmon Cockrell, Olen Cockrell, and a sister Jessie Cockrell Johnson. She is survived by two sons, Glen Jackson, and wife Syble of Little Rock and Larry Jackson, and wife Gay of Jonesboro; three grandsons David Rice, Aaron Jackson, and Zachary Jackson; two granddaughters, Lori Kumpuris and Elizabeth Lawson; one brother Robert Cockrell, and wife Pauline. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of UAMS, and most especially, the staff of Robinson Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and care. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello, with the Reverend Michael Garvey officiating.
