Bobby Jean Robbins

Bobby Jean Robbins died on June 27, 2015, after a long illness. Born on May 24, 1928, in White County, she was the daughter of Simeon Lee Harrison and Ruby Butler Harrison (West). After graduating from Searcy High School in 1946, she attended North Texas State, majoring in English and music, and traveled with the NTS Madrigal Singers. After graduating, she taught voice at Harding University. She was a life-long Girl Scout and leader. She loved entertaining, performing, traveling, motor-homing with friends, watching sports, and fishing. She also enjoyed playing piano, singing, and giving lessons in both. She was a lifelong Presbyterian attending churches in Searcy, Little Rock, Des Moines, North Little Rock, Fairfield Bay, and Russellville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Edwin Robbins, who did April 2, 2014; her parents, Simeon and Ruby Harrison; and her step-dad, J. Oran West. Survivors include one son, Lee Allen Robbins and daughter-in-law, Kate Robbins, and two grandsons, Christopher James Robbins and Tyler Stanford Robbins, all of Williamsburg, Va.; one daughter, Joanna Robbins Peters and son-in-law, Bill Peters of Russellville, Ark.; one granddaughter, Jessica Johnston Peters of Cabot, Ark.; a brother-ion-law, Benson Robbins and wife, Betty of Searcy, Ark.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. The family wishes to express appreciation for the compassionate care given by the staff at the Russellville Rehab and Nursing Center and Arkansas Hospice. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Searcy, with the Rev. Kade Curry officiating and under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Searcy.
