Wallis "Wally" Trull Hearon

Lt. Colonel Wallis "Wally" Trull Hearon (USAF, Retired) a native of Little Rock, Ark. and longtime resident of Shreveport passed away on August 24, 2015 at the age of 85. He was born on October 13, 1929 in Little Rock, Ark., where he attended public schools and graduated from Little Rock High school in 1947. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1951 where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He received his commission through the Air Force ROTC and was called to active duty in 1951. He graduated from pilot training in June of 1952. A veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, he flew ninety-nine missions in B-57's during the Vietnam conflict and numerous B-52 missions as an evaluator instructor pilot. He was combat ready in various aircraft including F-94B, F-86D, B-47E and B-52G and H. He was a life member of the University of Arkansas Alumni Association, the Saber Pilots Association and the B-52 Stratofortress Association. His favorite activities were attending Arkansas Razorback football games and functions, high school reunions and 68th FIS 50-55 Chapter reunions. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Wash Hearon and Bessie Viola Trull Hearon and a brother Thomas Washington Hearon. He is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Hazel Hendricks Hearon, a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Mike Sorel of Baton Rouge, La. and a niece, Leslie Haydel and family of Casper, Wyo. The family would like to extend special gratitude to the following: Johnny Hurley of Conway, Ark., Crystal Waters, Mary Short, Nelson Bell, and John and Donna Jayne. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 in Centuries Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the charity of your choice.
