Wallace C. Horton

Wallace Chester Horton of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 12, 1924 in Oden, Arkansas the son of the late James Chester and Rillie Strain Horton. He was a retired sheet metal worker for Ketcher Company and had served in the United States Army having fought in both World War II as well as the Korean War. He was a faithful member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan where he served as usher. For many years he had also served on the board of the Sheridan/Lost Creek Cemetery Association. "Pa" enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and keeping his yard spotless. He was also a Mason with Sheridan Lodge # 260. Wallace died at his home on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the age of 90. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Ruth Allen Horton, brothers, Verlon Horton, and Carl Horton; sisters, Ruth Williams, Mary Cotton, and Mable Pittman. Survivors: wife, Betty Jo Hedden Horton of Sheridan; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and David Hooks of Sheridan; Debbie and Judge Gary Arnold of Benton; step-children and spouses, Pam and Michael Gilbert of Sheridan and Joel and Lindsey Stanton of Sheridan; brother, Harold Horton of Guam; sister-in-law, Betty Horton of Sheridan; sister-in-law, Sue and husband, Raymond Davis of Sheridan; grandchildren and spouses, Aaron and Tonia Blackerby, Holly and Joel Seiter, Dr. Emily Arnold Hinton and Dr. Tommy Hinton; step-grandchildren, Colton Gilbert, Chase Gilbert, Conner Stanton, Chandler Stanton, Calley Bernard; great grandchildren, Connor Hinton, Kate Hinton, Matthew Seiter, Austin Blackerby, Aven Blackerby. He is also survived by a host of other family members and many, many, friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Jimmy Easley and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sheridan/Lost Creek cemetery, P.O. Box 514, Sheridan, Ark. 72150.
