Howard Bruce Owens, 92, of Maumelle, went to be with Jesus on July 13, 2015. He is preceded in death by his wife, Faye (McKlemurry) Owens; sister, Myrtle Lowe, of Satsuma, Alabama. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Richardson (Greg), of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandsons, Pastor Shane Bryant (Rachel) of Potterville, Michigan, Robert (Nikki) Richardson, of Little Rock, Arkansas; Great granddaughters, Amelia and Sophia Bryant of Pottervile, Michigan; sisters, Nell McKee, of Millport Alabama, Bobbie Dupe, of Fayetteville N.C., and Ada Pelser, of Boston, Massachusetts; and a brother Rev. James Owens of Foley, Alabama. He had two special nephews that were close to his heart, Jerry Fly (Sharon), of Greensboro, Gorgia, and Robert McKlemurry (Janna), of McKinney Texas. He was born on October 30, 1922 in Millport, Alabama. He was a Veteran of WWII, March 5, 1943-Oct. 16, 1945/30th Division of the 197th (FA) Battalion. Landing on Normandy Beach and fighting in every major battle until Germany surrendered. He proudly remembers arriving in New York harbor on the Queen Mary with hundreds of others returning home. He was with the Corp of Engineers Vicksburg Dist. for 33 Years, involved with building Lake DeGray. He was a kind and gentle man, who loved to joke and smile. Much thanks to the staff of Stonehaven and the VA for their support these last few years. Private Service and burial at Veterans Cemetery In NLR. Services entrusted to Arkansas Cremation.
