Evelyn Lancaster, 89, of Conway, went to be with the Lord May 17, 2015. She was born Tuesday, May 19, 1925 in Rosedale, Miss., to Hambleton and Ruth Hendrick. Evelyn is survived by her son Kenneth (Tabitha) Lancaster of Arkadelphia, four daughters, Rebecca (Colin) Slate of Booneville, Martha (Larry) Reeder of Little Rock, Mary (Scott) Hedges of Nashville, Tenn., and Beth (David) White of Conway. Nine Grandchildren, Robin Slate, Cheri Rowdybush, April Smith, Samantha Ringgold, Caleb Hedges, Andrew Hedges, Rachel Fox, Zeke Lancaster, and Emily Hutton. Five great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Elijah, Josiah Rowdybush, Hannah Fox, and Elijah Smith. Two Brothers, Llyod (Estelle) Hendrick, Raymond (Mary Alice) Hendrick. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ezekiel Lancaster, sister Selma Malone, and a brother Robert Hendrick. Mrs. Lancaster was a faithful wife to Bro. Zeke Lancaster for 60 years until his death in 2005. She served alongside him as a pastor's wife during Bro. Zeke's 50 years in the ministry. Mrs. Lancaster worked for Head Start when her children were young and then worked as a secretary for various organizations. She was the secretary to the Dean of Students at Hendrix College from 1968-1976. Then she was the Administrative Coordinator for the Army Corps of Engineers Toad Suck Lock and Dam from 1976-1992. She was a lover of music, especially gospel music. She loved to go on trips with family members, seeing new places and enjoying new experiences with her family. Mrs. Lancaster was a long time member of Harlan Park Baptist Church, where she taught a Sunday School class for many years and enjoyed the fellowship with her many friends. She was a strong woman of faith, whose trust and belief in God and His providence was her guidance throughout her life. Visitation will be Tuesday May 19, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Roller McNutt Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday May 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Harlan Park Baptist Church.
