Helen L. Stocks

Helen L. Stocks, 93, of Cabot, passed away on September 19, 2015. She was born October 2, 1921 in Water Valley, Mississippi to the late A.C. and Christine Sanders. She was a long time resident of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff, and most recently attended First Baptist Church in Cabot. Helen attended North Little Rock High School, and later married James Earl Stocks on November 6, 1940. While her husband was overseas serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, she was in Boston, Mass. working in a plant making detonators for bombs. After the war, they resided in Rose City for a few years, and later moved to Pine Bluff. Helen was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband's business, Jim's American Truck Shop; she also worked for several years in the White Hall School cafeteria. She relocated to Cabot in 2000. Helen loved cooking, working in her flower beds, and her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Stocks, her parents, and a sister, Myra Potz. Helen is survived by one sister, Carolynn Poss; daughter, Janie Estes (George) of Germantown, Tenn.; sons, Ed Stock (Nancy) of Garden City, Idaho, Pat Stocks of Boise, Idaho, and Mark Stocks of Cabot; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to express special thanks to the ladies of Helen's Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, and all of the wonderful staff at Greystone Nursing and Rehab, who have been her gracious caregivers for the past two years, and to her roommate, Catherine Green. Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2015, 6-7:30 p.m., in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery in Alexander, Ark. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, Cabot Animal Shelter, or a charity of your choice.
