LUCILLE SUMMERS, 89, of Little Rock, was born in Brickeys, Ark. to Alonzo and Ethel Bailey on Dec. 29, 1925 and passed away on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ira Summers and survived by her two children, Ira J. Smith of Little Rock, Ark. and Ronald J. Summers of McCrory, Ark. Other survivors include her two sisters, Cora Whitmore of Little Rock, Ark. and Virginia Bailey of Searcy, Ark. and her four grandchildren: Karen Vault (Jacoby) of Virginia Beach, Va., Kristen Smith of Little Rock, Ark., Cassandra Smith of Katy, Texas, and Andre Summers of Sacramento, Calif. as well as eight great-grandchildren. She was a lover of gardening and working in her yard and was known to have beautiful flower beds that attracted neighbors and friends alike to stop and admire. Because she enjoyed being in nature, she also enjoyed fishing; some of her other hobbies included sewing, crafts, and quilting. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ of Cotton Plant, Ark. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at 9 a.m., and funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th Street in Little Rock with burial to follow in Little Rock National Cemetery.
