Arthur H. Tapley

Arthur H. " Doc " Tapley passed away August 11, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born April 1, 1925 in the Mt. Pleasant Community just south of Quitman, Ark. He was the youngest son of David and Maudie (Young) Tapley. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Jean (Crutchfield) Tapley; son, Steven Tapley, Sr. (Diannia); daughter, Lisa Tapley; grandchildren, Steven "TJ" ; Lhear "Ally"; Lainye; Elizabeth; and great-granddaughter, Arwin all of whom he adored, he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and their families whom he held in high regard. He was employed 24 ½ years by a Wholesale Co. in Little Rock, Ark., where he was the division one softgoods manager for 11 years prior to becoming the assistant company manager for four years. In 1973 he became an independent sales representative for three manufacturing companies located in New York, New York; Saint Louis, Missouri; and Los Angeles, California. During those years he kept Arkansas consistently ranked in the top four in sales. In that same year he built a home in Van Buren, County Arkansas, where he owned and maintained a livestock operation. He has been a member of Mablevale United Methodist Church since 1968. He was also a member of AARP, NCSS and American Drygoods Association and the DNC. After fighting stage four leukemia and lymphoma combined for a number of years he left this earth unexpectedly from other causes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of his name to the Conway Carti Center Conway, Arkansas. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel Greenbrier, Arkansas with Brother Sam Parker officiating.
