Kathryn Elizabeth Pipkin Boys

Kathryn Elizabeth Pipkin Boys died peacefully at home on Aug. 14, 2016. She was born on Nov. 22, 1949 to Maurice Lee and Loleta Mills Pipkin of Pastoria, Ark. Kathy was the second of six siblings and they lived and worked on their family farm. She was a member of Sherrill United Methodist Church in Sherrill, Ark., and attended school in Altheimer, Ark., graduating in 1967. Kathy lived in Magnolia, Ark. for a number of years. She attended Southern State College (now Southern Arkansas University) and graduated in 1972 with a degree in Education. Her only child, Dana Skelton, was born in 1969. She taught English at Taylor High School, Taylor, Ark. for over a decade. During that time she obtained a Masters in Education from Auburn University in 1981. In 1986 she married Bill Boys and they moved to Fair Oaks, Calif. Kathy managed degree programs for branches of UCLA and the University of Denver before finally working with Bill at the business they owned in Roseville, Calif., the Glass Turtle. Bill and Kathy were avid golfers, and Kathy was an active member of several golf clubs. She served as the tournament chair, helped organize many of their banquets and volunteered to work at area tournaments. Kathy had a green thumb and enjoyed feeding and observing birds and other wildlife. She liked to read, watch movies, walk her dogs, travel and made frequent trips to Arkansas to visit family. Kathy is preceded in death by parents, Maurice and Loleta Pipkin and brothers, Danny and Richard Pipkin, all of Pastoria, Ark., and sister Jan Pipkin Tyree of Slidell, La. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. William Boys of Fair Oaks, Calif.; daughter, Dana Skelton Meyer and son-in-law, Brian Wade of Conway, Ark.; sister, Pam Pipkin Shaw of White Hall, Ark.; brother, John Pipkin of Pastoria, Ark.; grandchildren, Sydney and Tanner Meyer of Conway, Ark., as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family will hold a small, private event to honor and remember Kathy.
