Gary E. Himes, 69, of Little Rock, passed away December 27, 2016. Born in Ft. Smith to Robert and Jacquelyn Plumb Himes, he worked in mortgage banking and was a member of the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, B.J. Tatum Himes; son, Bryant Himes (Jamie) of Jackson, Mississippi; daughter, Tammy Drennon of West Helena; siblings, Bob Himes (Susan) of Geismar, Louisiana, Barbara Ross of Pine Bluff, and Denise Crumpton (Ted) of Maumelle; aunt, Kaye Williams of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, McKenzie Drennon of West Helena and Natalie Turner of Jackson; and a host of other family and friends. His favorite pastimes included traveling with a group of dear friends in their Thunderbirds, tops back, wind in their hair and the privilege of traveling all 48 states. He always said that national parks are our country's greatest secrets. Gary will be remembered for his easygoing personality, his unique wit and sense of humor, his frugal approach to life (and, oh yes, his red shoes). We will miss him as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Nothing made him happier than to be with his family. "We will always love you." Gary loved the Lord with his whole heart and was thankful every day for the grace given to him. His funeral service will be Saturday, December 31 at 10 a.m. at the Bible Church of Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Tim Senn, followed by interment at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bible Church of Little Rock, 19111 Cantrell Rd., Little Rock, Ark. 72223 or to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn, Little Rock, Ark. 72210. Arrangements are pending by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200. Gary's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
