John Jared Martin

John Jared Martin, 64, of Spartanburg, S.C., died Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Spartanburg Hospice Home. Born Feb. 25, 1952 in Little Rock, Ark., he was the son of the late George C. and Frances Fee Martin. John received his degree from the University of Arkansas and was a retired mechanical engineer. He was a true "Jack of all Trades" and loved to garden. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include his loving wife, Freida Thomason Martin of 32 years; daughter, Katherine Martin Sanchez (Max) of Houston, Texas; sisters, Mary Branton of Little Rock, Ark., Agnes Martin of Memphis, Tenn.; and a brother, Jim Martin (Jan) of Oakland, Calif. A funeral service will be held at a later date in Little Rock, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Center of the Carolinas, 120 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or to a charity of one's choice.
