Joan F. Lines-McMillen, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Friday June 17, 2016 at the age of 86 in Ponca City, OK. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on February 22, 1930 the daughter of Dr. Joy Kenneth Donaldson and Emily Futrall Donaldson, and the granddaughter of John Clinton Futrall, former President of the University of Arkansas. Memorial Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday June 22, 2016 in the Albright United Methodist Church with Rev. April Coates officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark. Memorial and Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, Okla. She attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, Louisiana her first two years of College and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1951, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity. Joan was a Journalist teacher in Arkansas at El Dorado High School, and a United States Court Reporter for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas under the U.S. District Court Judge Oren Harris. As a Court Reporter she travelled extensively all over Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas recording and transcribing government court proceedings. In 1975 Joan moved to Houston, Texas and worked for a United States Magistrate in the Federal Building. After three years she decided to move to Fayetteville, Arkansas where she and her youngest son, Chris, would be near her mother Emily. In Fayetteville she opened her own court reporting business and worked independently several years for attorneys in the area. After her retirement she served as Treasure of the Chi Omega, Psi Chapter House Corporation in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Joan greatly enjoyed working with the college students and always remembered the joyful times as their treasure. Joan was a member of the Colonial Daughters of the 17th Century, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a former member of the Daughters of the American Colonists. In 1992 Joan moved to Westminster Village Retirement Home in Ponca City, OK to be near her son, John Director in the Mid-Continent Business Unit Information Technology of Conoco Oil Company. On March 3, 2000 Joan married Bill R. McMillen and was happily married to him until December 2003, when he joined the Lord. She continued to live in Westminster Village. Survivors include one son: Christopher Lines of Baltimore, Maryland; two grandsons: Sam Lines and wife Jenny and Justin Lines; seven great-grandchildren; Sammy, Marcus Futrall, Nathan, William, Nicholas, Spencer and Kaysor Lines and two great-granddaughters Emily and Whitney.
