Carolyn Conway Trimble Murphree

Carolyn Conway Trimble Murphree, 91, died May 13 at the home of her daughter, Kathryn in Waynesville, North Carolina. She was born in Washington, Ark. to parents Ruby Conway and Frank Yates Trimble in the family home built by her great grandfather. She earned an AB degree at Louisiana State University and an MA at Columbia University. She married Idus L. Murphree at the Trimble House in 1950 and moved to Ohio in 1951 when her husband joined the faculty of Ohio University. Later, she also joined the faculty, teaching writing courses, first in the English Department and later in the Management Department. She retired as an emerita assistant professor in 1989. Preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her children Kathryn, Emily, and Robert as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Athens, Ohio at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.
