James Paul Hightower

James Paul Hightower, age 72, of Perryville, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016. He was born July 24, 1943 in Livermore, California, a son of Elmer and Johnnie Mae Cossey Hightower. He was a 1962 graduate of Perryville High School and a retired serviceman from First Electric Company after 31 years. He was a member of Oppelo First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vivian Holbrook Hightower of Perryville; son, Randall Hightower and wife Kim of Perryville; daughter, Delana Hightower of Benton; grandchildren, Kendall Hightower of Perryville; Brittany Rathjen and Bo Hightower of Benton; sister, Bernice White of Springfield; brothers, Bob Hightower and wife Freda of Oppelo; Elmer Hightower and wife Linda of Overcup; Leon Carter and wife Rita of Bigelow; and his beloved four legged friend, Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, J.B. Carter. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26 at Harris Chapel with Bro. Brad Underwood officiating. Burial will be at Thornburg Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25 at the funeral home.
