Freda M Alford

Freda M. Alford, 91, of Magnolia, Ark. passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Magnolia Health and Rehabilitation Center. Freda was born October 7, 1925 in Stephens, Ark. to the late Fred Mayfield and Mattie Elizabeth (Rogers) Day. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Clegg Class, Prayer Shawl Ministry, and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Freda enjoyed planting flowers, watching birds, knitting and crocheting. She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father, E.D. Day, sister, Faye Handy, sister-in-law and husband Melba and Basil Black. Freda is survived by her husband, Harold G. Alford of Magnolia, Ark.; daughter, Sue Cook and husband Bob of Magnolia, Ark.; son, David Alford and wife Jan of Magnolia, Ark.; sister, Ann Miller and husband T.J. of Marion, La.; grandson, Brian Alford and wife Margo of Huntsville, Ala.; granddaughters, Julie Routon and husband Stephen of Little Rock, Ark., Sarah Hardin and husband Barlo of Memphis, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren, James Alford and Ellie Alford of Huntsville, Ala. and Reed Routon and Will Routon of Little Rock, Ark. Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Stephens Cemetery with Pastor Pam Estes officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia, Ark. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
