Attorney Winfred Allen "Win" Trafford, 76, of Pine Bluff, passed away on Sept. 14, 2016. He was born on Sept. 8, 1940, in Hillcreek, Ark. Win was born and raised in the country community of Hillcreek, which is five miles north of Plumerville, Ark. He worked at First State Bank after school and on Saturdays prior to graduating, and drove a school bus his junior and senior years of high school. He was a starter for the Plumerville Bulldog basketball team his junior and senior years, and graduated from Plumerville High School in 1958. After high school, he continued working at First State Bank for two years. He left that employment and went to work for the FBI in Little Rock, and started college at Little Rock University, which is now UALR. He was with the FBI from 1960 to 1966. After he left the FBI, he went to work for Farm Bureau as a claims representative, covering the counties of Jefferson, Arkansas, Lincoln and Lonoke. He worked full-time, and attended full-time night law school in Little Rock. He received his pre-law at LRU, UAM, and the U of A at Fayetteville. He graduated from Arkansas Law School, and was licensed to practice law on May 17, 1972. He began his law practice in November of the same year. In 1973 and 1974 he was a part-time Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Jefferson, Lincoln, and Desha counties, while practicing law full-time. He was licensed to practice in all the courts in Arkansas, the Federal District Courts, and the Eighth U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal in St. Louis. He was a member of the Jefferson County, Arkansas, and American Bar Associations. He was a past president of the Jefferson County Bar Association, and was also a member of the Arkansas and American Trial Lawyers Association. He served on the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Board of Governors 1984-86. He was a member of the Hall of Fellows of the Arkansas Bar Foundation, and was elected Boss of the Year in 1977 by the Jefferson County Legal Secretaries Association. He also served on the Insurance Committee of the Arkansas Bar Association for many years. He was appointed by the Arkansas Supreme Court to serve on its Professional Conduct Committee, and served as chairman of this committee for many years. He was on active duty with the U.S. Army from June until December 1963, and served in the United States Army Reserve, the 431st Civil Affairs Division, on the LRU campus. Win was a member of Quapaw Lodge 730 at Pine Bluff, and was a 32nd Degree member of the Scottish Rite Bodies at Little Rock. He was also a member of Sahara Shrine Temple, where he was the potentate in 1988. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Charline Krouse Trafford, his parents Ernest and Clyda Trafford, and his sister, Joy Ann Trafford Brown. Survivors include his only child, Winfred Allen "Win" Trafford II, and his wife, Tracey, and their children Maggie and Jackson, and his brother John B. Trafford and his wife Evelyn. Other survivors are his brother-in-law Jack Brown, sister-in-law Jackie Tubbs (Charel), brother-in-law Edward "Bugs" Andrews (Marcia), and many nieces and nephews. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff since 1972. Visitation is Sunday, September 18th, from 2-4 p.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home. Funeral is at First Baptist Church, Monday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m., with procession to Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following.
