Pauline Smith Howard

PAULINE SMITH HOWARD of Little Rock passed from this life at home on Thursday, April 6, 2017. She was born in Hardy, Ark., April 9, 1920 to Joseph L. and Francis A. Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings: Levi, Leroy, Raymond, Elbert, Orpha, Eva, Ruth, Jean and Joseph C. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Karen and son Larry. Pauline was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by a brother, Orman (Lois) Smith, of Benton, Arkansas; a son, David (Charlene) Howard of Alexander and a daughter, Kansie Howard of Little Rock; a daughter-in-law Dianne Howard of Little Rock; five grandchildren: Michelle (Barry) Young of Fayetteville, Brent Howard of Little Rock, Gary (Tonya) Howard of Cabot, Mark Howard of Rison, and Preston Howard. She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly. Pauline was raised in Independence and Sharp counties and loved to tell stories of her childhood. She had an infectious smile and a twinkle in her eye with a kind word for all. She loved nature and wildlife and instilled that in her children. She enjoyed gospel singing and relished in the family gathering singing sessions. She was always more concerned about others than herself and was the glue that held the family close. Before retiring she worked at Leird Church Manufacturing Company as secretary and assistant sales manager. An informal visitation will be held Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at Griffin-Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock. An additional visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Wortham Funeral Home in Highland, AR.
