Harve Bell Thorn III

Harve Bell Thorn, III (Hank), age 75, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died September 1, 2017, at home. He was born August 11, 1942, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents Jean Schofner Thorn and Harve Bell Thorn, Jr. and is survived by his wife, Toni Thorn, of the home. He graduated high school from Castle Heights Military Academy. He served in the US Army for three years, receiving an honorable discharge in 1969. He earned his master's degree in education from the University of Arkansas and began a long career in the field of education. He worked at the Stavanger American School, Norway, Munich International School, Germany, International School of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, and the American School Foundation, Mexico City, Mexico. He culminated his career with the Greenland Public Schools, retiring in 2011. His passions were cave diving, computers, and motor scooter riding. He loved and cherished his family, friends, and many students. One student from Munich International School commented, "He meant so much to so many of us. He took us seriously and we all respected him for that." He felt it was his responsibility to prepare his students for the realities that life would bring their way. A huge debt of thanks is shared with the personnel who provided caring services at Willard Walker Hospice Home, the Circle of Life Hospice, and his amazing and cherished caregivers.
