Vera Lee Wheeler

Vera Lee Wheeler went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 21, 2018. She was born June 21, 1943 in Bald Knob to Ed and Geneva Ward. Vera worked with her husband Gearld Wheeler in family owned businesses for many years. Later in life she worked for Unity Health and continued to serve as a volunteer at Unity after she retired in 2016. She was also the Treasurer of the Unity Health Auxiliary. She was a member of the Searcy Saint Paul Methodist Church and especially loved to work in the Nursery. She enjoyed golf for many years and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her lifelong friend Ann Smith. Vera is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Lee Edwards; a step-son, Grayling Wheeler (Debbie); a step-grandson, Greg Wheeler; brother Charles Ward (Cathy); brother Lavon Ward (Beverly); a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved members of the extended Ward, Harvey and Wheeler families. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 25 years, Gearld Wheeler. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Searcy. Services will be conducted Wednesday, April 25 at 10,a.m. at Saint Paul United Methodist Church of Searcy. Interment will follow at Carter Cemetery in Russell.
