Lillie Carolyn (Brown) Porter of Little Rock, Ark. departed tis life on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018. She was born Oct. 2, 1952 to the late Sony Brown and Mattie Carter in Marianna, Ark. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Bethel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Felton, Ark. She was preceded in death bye her parents and a brother-in-law, Johnny Wester. Survivors include her best friend and husband, Maurice Porter Sr. of 41 years; one son, Maurice Jr. (LaToya Buford); one sister, Tennessee Wester of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Dr. John Carter (Laura) of Little Rock, and Mr. Frank Carter (Fannie) of Marianna, Ark.; two beautiful and smart grandchildren, Amari Bernard Porter and Marie Brielle Porter; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. Lillie Porter received her bachelor degree at Philander Smith College in 1975 and was an accountant at First Commercial Bank until her retirement. During her lifetime, her Christian service included Sunday School Teacher and vacation bible school teacher. She also had a heart for children. She loved her daily, especially her two grandchildren as well as her church family.. She loved to read and cook soul food for her family. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. Viewing will be Friday from 1-5 p.m. at Gillespie-Kelly Funeral Home.
