Nellie Frances Green

Nellie Frances (Holcomb) Green, 96, of Newport departed this life February 1, 2018. She was born March 4, 1921 to Augustine Franklin and Reigh (McAteer) Holcomb and was a long time member of Surrounded Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Green enjoyed attending church, reading the Bible, spending time with family and friends, and playing Skip-Bo. She was preceded in death by her husband; Melvin Green, Sr., parents; Augustine Franklin Holcomb and Reigh (McAteer) Holcomb, step-father; Leo McAteer, and one brother; Jerry Holcomb. She is survived by ten children all of Arkansas; Melva (Joe) Thompson, Clareece Armstrong, Pat Harris, Don (Colleen) Green, Vicki (Clint) Foust, LaVerne (Bill) Birmingham, Gary Green, James (Judy) Green, Kathy (Doug) Stone, and Mel, Jr. (Elaine) Green, two brothers; Ben Holcomb and Eugene McAteer, twenty six grandchildren, fifty four great grandchildren, and seventeen great great grandchildren. Six of Nellie's ten children are of a five generation family. In honor of Nellie's wishes, she kindly request in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital in honor of Melvin, Sr. and Nellie Green. Donations can be made directly to Children's Hospitalor through Dillinger Funeral Home or during visitation for your convenient. Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
